I love having Lucy with me when I'm driving, so yesterday morning, I loaded her into the box truck and she and I set off for Crawford County. We had furniture to pick up, there were 2 stops to make. Rob had told me my first stop was only an hour and a half away, just imagine my surprise when I put the address in the GPS and it told me it was 2 1/2 hours away! I felt like I was going the wrong way.
Travelling with Lucy is easy. She's very good in the car or the truck! She sleeps most of the time, but every once and a while will sit straight up and check everything out. I'm sure that if she could speak, she would have been saying "Are we there yet, Ma?" because I myself kept having the same thought.
Lucy and I stopped off at almost every rest stop that we passed. They all had very nice areas to walk your pet, which I think is fantastic! She enjoyed exploring all of the wonderful smells, and I loved being able to get out of the truck and strectch my legs. And the funny looks that I got crawling out of that truck were pretty entertaining. I don't suppose I look much like a truck driver! And believe me when I say, I'm not used to driving that big truck, so there were some pretty interesting moments yesterday- mostly involving "reverse".
On one of our potty breaks, we met a wonderful woman who fell in love with Lucy. She told us that her daughter had a wonderful 13 year old boxer that she had just lost, and asked if she could take some pictures of Lucy to show to her Grandkids! Of course, Lucy was happy to oblige and as soon as that camera came out, Lucy struck a pose! You should have seen that picture!
By the time we pulled in the driveway at 5:00, both Lucy and I had more than our fill of being on the road! We were both eager to get out of that truck! But we had a very nice day together, and travelling with Lucy is much better than travelling alone!
Hi! I'm a new follower, and pretty new to blogging! Your puppy is so cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice day for you....rest well, my friends!
ReplyDeleteLucy, You are a very lucky and special dog. I love reading your adventures.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by iBlog, marianne! Now YOU have an adorable blog! How precious! and your dog is adorable, too. :) I love your background! how did you do that! I would love for you to pull up a chair and stay a while. I JUST got internet access back on today at my house, so i was unable to update my blog today. But, I have a new, fun post up yesterday. I'll be back! :) Thanks again, Cat
ReplyDeleteTwo out of my four dogs are excellent car and truck riders. Our new pup Bird loves to sit straight up and watch the road, in between sleeping with her head on my arm. The moment I stop working for someone else and start working for myself I will have a dog under my desk, or in my lap on work-related trips.
ReplyDeleteI wish my dogs travelled better. Shiver insists on sitting on my lap which really isn't very safe. Chico climbs everywhere and cries.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Lucy got to go for a ride along. You're right, that's much better than traveling alone!

Aw, glad Lucy could make someone's day at the rest stop - animals are so good at that! :)
ReplyDeleteRoad trips are exhausting. Glad you both had fun. My dog Kelly enjoys riding in the car. She loves looking out the window at everything passing by!
ReplyDeleteMy dream job? One where I can take my dogs with me every day. Lucy is such a good girl. I am so happy for her. She has a great Mom. I get the eye every morning when I'm drinking my coffee. Both of them giving me the stare down as if to say.."well, are we going to the park this morning?, huh, are we, well are we? Great post. thanks Keri
ReplyDeleteOh, Iz hates long drives. Dad and I used to do 4hr drives to the North and I would hyperventilate all the way!
